Facebook Sues Teacher Resource for Using the Word BOOK
Facebook is suing a company called Teachbook, which operates a social networking site for teachers, apparently because it has "book" in its name and "competes" with Facebook. Teachbook is described as "a professional community for teachers". Full Article
Personally I would have understood if there was a similarity to the FaceBook site, it's logos, or even if it had been in competition, but TeachBook appears to be a significant departure and doesn't appear to be "passing off".
The issues surrounding TradeMarks and of copyright infringement is becoming an enormous issue, but I can't help thinking there sometimes is far too much unjustified sabre rattling from larger organisations.
