Engine Optimisation Web Log (BLOG) | This News Blog is dedicated to bringing news, information and innovations targeting the Search Engine Optimisation industry.
Google and Bing make a deal with Twitter but expect TwitterSpan the next big thing. The agreement gives the search engines access to all public Tweets( see Search engines to find Tweets ). In the event that the search engines start to allocate credit within their ranking systems, we could be about to see the next generation of spam techniques.
Every time something is identified to improve rankings it won't be long before the SEO black hatters move in and fill the space with junk.
So how might credit be given? It could be that if a Tweets links to a site or article, which provokes a number of other Tweets - the search engines could consider this to in the rankings. Which is fair enough, until you take into account previous techniques that were responsible for clamp downs on thinks linked blogs.
I'm sure both companies will be looking at their anti-spam policies, but they have to come up with something better than rel nofollow.
