Google quietly develops twitter display ads
Search engine Google says it is hoping to provide more marketing opportunities for advertisers by developing new display ads with Twitter.
The company is currently working with a small group of advertisers to test the new approach that puts the familiar Twitter bird in the left-hand corner of the ad.
When internet users click on a button to the right of the symbol they can follow the tweats of the advertiser without leaving the original page. Clicking on any part of the ad other than this button takes the user to the advertiser's Twitter page.
Although Google has made no formal announcement about the new ads, which are appearing on sites in the Google content network, it has acknowledged that it was running a number of experiments with different technology partners.
A spokesman for the company said it was currently testing different ways to allowing advertisers to update their ads in real time, providing more marketing opportunities for advertisers to reach users in moments that are relevant and useful to them.
Meanwhile a search engine marketing firm in Oslo is reported to have been approached to take part in the test.
