Google's new Gadget Ads a winner for advertisers
Google has launched its new interactive ads service and it is expected to be a big hit with advertisers. The interactivity of Gadget Ads will allow advertisers to do two key things: measure users' responses to their ads and update their adverts in real time.
The ads will also allow viewers to interact with content in a way that was not previously possible with standard web ads.
Google has set a series of standards for adverts including limiting animation to less than 15 seconds. It has also forbidden the use of reading or writing cookies and pop ups or other external alerts.
The measurability of the ads will enable advertisers to get an accurate picture of how many people viewed them and how they interacted with them. With video ads for example, advertisers can see how much of a video has been watched and whether menu controls were used.
Another key benefit for advertisers is that the Gadget Ads avoid the need to click through to another website as all content can be viewed within the ad on the same site.
