Search Engine Optimisation industry.
Google talks about its AnalyticsMarking two years since the launch of Google Analytics, the search engine has been speaking about its success and what the future holds – especially as other search engines are reportedly planning to launch their own analytics systems.
Although Google is extremely cagey about the scale of Google Analytics usage, it simply says that it is used by everyone from one man bands to the world’s biggest brands.
The EMEA head of Google Analytics, Brian Clifton, understands that there has always been scepticism that the company allows people to use the software for free because it has some kind of hidden agenda.
Clifton is resolute in his stance that Google does it because it gives advertisers transparency with their online marketing.
He said analytics products and tools have been around for ten years now – ironically, longer than Google. However it was a niche market until Google came along and released a free product.
Clifton added that one of Google’s key mantras is to democratise data and make it much more accessible to everyone within an organisation. Spreading that love and spreading that data is a good thing.
Given the forthcoming launch of Microsoft’s free reporting tool, codenamed Project Gatineau, the market is not expecting Google to change course with its analytics software as the vast majority of websites are still not using any analytics solution at all.
