Google to anonymise personal IP data earlier
Google has decided to reduce the length of time it keeps personal data on users IP adresses. The move is in responce to its conflict with the EU Commission.
The data Google collects is used in its technology to prevent fraud, personalise and target advertising and improve search results. They argued that since the ISPs moved IP address around that the data wouldn't identify individual users.
The news comes as Google reaches its 10th birthday, all considered for a company that is one of the biggest global brands it is still 8 years from coming of age.
