Engine Optimisation Web Log (BLOG) | This News Blog is dedicated to bringing news, information and innovations targeting the Search Engine Optimisation industry.
Improved rankings just by adding content regularlyIn a post two years ago we noted that rankings in search are affected by changes to your site.
Our tests were to take a site that was doing well for a search term and allow it to stagnate for 10 days. Its rankings dropped 3 - 4 points in the Google rankings. We added a page, in the form of a news article, and the rankings restored 2 - 3 days later. Allowing it to stagnate again, the site dropped once more.
We then started to introduce new pages regularly, eventually coming to a conclusion that rankings can be influenced by new content and the nominal frequency appears to me 2 to 3 times per week.
We have revisited this issue and found some changes.
Again we felt a well performing site for 10 days to stagnate. This time when we introduced a news article, instead of taking days to restore rankings, it was hours.
The results are not conclusive as we have only done the test a limited number of times, but will be continuing to test and exploring this relationship further over coming weeks. If anyone else has any data that might be helpful in this please contact us on blog@xseo.com, full acknowledgement will be given (and a href link) Comment:
