Live Search update under way
Search engine optimisers look set for more work as reports have been emerging that Microsoft is carrying out a major update to its Live Search ranking and indexing algorithms.
Search engine experts in the blogosphere have been noticing changes in rankings, suggesting that a major rankings update is taking place.
Microsoft last performed major works to its Live Search ranking system back in July, but has yet to confirm this latest update.
Signs of work in progress were first picked up by bloggers on the website administrator forum WebmasterWorld.
One blogger noticed that sites with lots of backlinks were rising up the rankings, suggesting increasing convergence with Google's algorithm.
Live Search, Microsoft's successor to MSN Search, is the third most widely used search engine behind Google and Yahoo! with nearly 11% of US market share.
