Microsoft launches TafitiMicrosoft has launched a new search website called Tafiti. It’s an experimental website which has been described as slick as it uses a Silverlight interface. The most striking thing that users will notice about Tafiti is its Tree View which portrays search results as if they were leaves on a tree. On the left hand side there’s a ring selector which has been likened to something from a video game. It allows users to cycle through the search results including web, images, RSS etc. Results can then be shared via Windows Live Spaces. On the right there's a sort of "shelf" where you can drag-and-drop results you want to keep. You can also click the little tree for a tree-view, which is like a tag-cloud with mouseovers. Microsoft say Tafiti is designed to help people use the Web for research projects that span multiple search queries and sessions by helping visualize, store, and share research results. It also said Tafiti uses both Microsoft Silverlight and Live Search to explore the intersection of richer experiences on the Web and the increasing specialization of search. Apparently, the name Tafiti is the Swahili word for “do research”. Comment:
