Engine Optimisation Web Log (BLOG) | This News Blog is dedicated to bringing news, information and innovations targeting the Search Engine Optimisation industry.
New search engine from MicrosoftMicrosoft has promised to make searching the internet easier by re-launching its own search engine. The software giant also hopes to make up ground on Yahoo, which currently has more than a 64% share of the search market in the US compared to Microsoft's 8.2% Re-named and re-branded Bing.com, the search engine will go live first in the US and launch in beta elsewhere. Bing offers to make search more relevant by understanding the intention of searches, and grouping more related information to the original query. For example, searches for a product will also bring links to reviews, accessories, and online shops, as well as information about the item. Microsoft says it wants to reduce the amount of clicking a user has to do to find specific and related information. Paul Stoddart, Microsoft UK search lead, explained that 40% of search queries go unanswered and so there is something missing and a big consumer need. He went on to say Microsoft was hoping to build an emotional connection between users and its search engines, as well as brand loyalty. As a result Bing will have a much softer, less clinical feel than previous Microsoft search engines and rivals, with a daily changing backdrop image. Microsoft's announcement can only be good news for internet users as increased competition in any field usually benefits the consumer in terms of improved products and services. Comment:
