I can't believe Wal-Mart is offering SEO, as well as butter.

Rumours have been rife for weeks and many people having been checking their calendars to make sure it's not an April Fools' Day joke.

But apparently it's true. Wal-Mart has started to offer SEO and SEM services.

It sounds surreal - calling into your local Wal-Mart to buy bread, milk, juice and SEO. I can just imagine "Link Baiting" packages with the DVD selection and "article submissions" with the magazines, where would they put the "blog spam" cooked meats? OK, so I jest, but if anyone was going to try and turn our industry into a commodity then it's Wal-Mart.

Through its brand for bulk sales to small businesses, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart is offering online packages from as little as $30 per month which help with search.

It's fair to say that it has caused consternation amongst journalists and bloggers alike with everyone seeming to have their say on something which, on the face of it, sounds ridiculous.

I'm lost for words, please tell me April the first hasn't moved to February without me noticing?
