What do you want from SEO?
Website owners are increasingly becoming aware of the benefits of SEO, but many clients do not realise that there are more benefits to SEO than they initially thought.
SEO is a long-term strategy, before commencement website owners need to consider carefully the implications behind the fact that SEO is an ongoing process. It isn't something you stop because you reach a goal, once you attain a ranking you then become the target for others to surpass. Probably the worst thing you can do in SEO is cancel a project early, if there is a possibility you might then PPC is the route for you.
Most SEO projects are centred around rankings, and the acquisition of traffic. But there is more to SEO than traffic and rankings, a point that is all too often overlooked. Good practice SEO will bring the following
· Raw traffic: many websites serve up advertising and simply try to generate more traffic to attract ad revenue.
· Optimising for e-commerce: directly monetising traffic by selling goods and services directly over the internet.
· Capturing leads: the sale of goods and services, such as legal consulting or SEO itself, that cannot be fulfilled directly online.
· Building brand awareness: where there is a stronger emphasis towards blogging, social networking and providing a regular flow of news.
· Managing reputation: where the objective is to populate search results as well as achieve high ranking.
· Influencing opinion: where SEO is focused on influencing people looking for information about a particular topic.
