Yahoo! beats Google in satisfaction poll
Yahoo has deposed Google to top a poll which measures consumer satisfaction levels.
Google had always come top of the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ASCI) since it was first compiled by researchers at the University of Michigan in 2002.
Yahoo! pipped Google by a single point in the survey where consumers rated their experiences with portals and search engines. There were a number of criteria which produces an overall satisfaction score on a 100 point scale.
Google did hold a five point lead last year but Yahoo! managed to reverse that in just 12 months.
The website which made the biggest gain in terms of user satisfaction was Ask.com which is now only four points off top spot.
Commenting about Ask’s rise in rankings Larry Freed, President and CEO of ForeSee Results - which sponsors and interprets the ACSI e-business report – said it's not entirely clear, based on the timing of the study, whether the jump in satisfaction for Ask is entirely attributable to the "Ask3D" redesign, but that's the likely explanation.
The biggest loser in the survey was AOL which experienced a 9.5% drop.
