Research Finds Email Still Beats Social Media for Consumer Attention
According to Econsultancy's US Research Director, Stefan Tornquist, "Despite the current hype surrounding social media, social network adoption and its influence on e-commerce is far from maturity. More than a third of consumers (37%) do not use a social networking site, while those who have recently become a 'fan' or 'friend' of a company or brand online are still in the minority." This does reinforce our own research, whilst social media is great as a mechanism for brand awareness, almost as traditional newspaper advertising is, social media in isolation is not the answer.
Combining social, email and even targeted PPC advertising campaigns with a good "what's in it for me" can help to build not only general profile and awareness but influence the direct audience for the various disciplines. You know this actually sounds like marketing..... funny that!
